Rocky Mountain National Park's Sprague Lake is an easy-to-reach gem. It is still plenty cold and there's traditionally quite a bit of snow left on the ground here in mid-April, which is when I took this photo in 2016. I had to get up pretty early to be here before sunrise, but the fairly calm waters of the lake and the ability to enjoy this view without being shoulder-to-shoulder with hundreds of other visitors made it absolutely worthwhile. This shot was taken shortly after sunrise, which allowed the nearly-horizontal sunlight to turn the mountain range behind the lake the vibrant shade of orange shown here.
