I was staying at a tiny hotel in the village of Dupavik, in Iceland's West Fjords on the night of September 22, 2017. After I'd completed my dinner, I went outside and happened to look up. Never before had I seen the Northern Lights, and this moment, the first time I ever saw them, is burned into my memory. I grabbed my camera gear and drove a couple miles in order to get rid of the artificial light from the hotel, and to find a better perspective, and what you see here is the result. Although I saw the Aurora Borealis on several more occasions before I came back home, the night that I saw them in Dupavik remains possibly my most memorable experience with them.
