Dallas from the Edgefield Avenue Bridge
Starting in 2018, I decided to shoot cities when I first visit them, if I have the time. I've appeared at many art shows in and around Dallas throughout the years, but had never found the right spot from which to shoot the city skyline. That is, until a trip to the city in April, 2019. After shooting the city from the paths along the Trinity River, I went to the Edgefield Avenue Bridge, where it spans Interstate 30 to capture this shot. Using head- and taillights of the vehicles on the Interstate, below, I was able to create nice leading lines that allow one's eyes to wander into the most interesting part of the photo – the skyline of Dallas, itself. In my opinion, Dallas truly has one of the best city skylines in the country! Available in the following sizes (Panorama A): 20x10, 24x12, 32x16, 40x20, 48x24, 60x30, 60x30 Triptych (3 x 20x30), 72x36, 72x36 Triptych (3 x 24x36).

Although the bike and walking paths along the Trinity River, just southwest of downtown don't really feel like the safest place to be wandering around at night with a bunch of expensive-looking camera gear, I decided giving this shot a try was probably safer than being a war photographer. With this (silly) logic, I found several great ways to shoot the Dallas skyline, and I have to admit, it is much prettier than I'd imagined it would be. Truly one of the better city skylines in the country! I think this shot, with the focus on the Margaret McDermott Bridge, is quite an original view of the city! It is difficult to shoot cityscapes of cities that have no elevated views from which to view the skyline. San Antonio is like this, but I did locate a neighborhood several miles from downtown that provided a great view of the beautiful San Antonio city skyline. Available in the following sizes (Panorama C): 30x10, 36x12, 48x16, 60x20.
Starting in 2018, I decided to shoot cities when I first visit them, if I have the time. I appeared at an art show in Austin in the spring of 2019, and promptly shot this iconic shot of downtown Austin, reflected on the Colorado River. Prior to visiting, I had no idea the skyline of Austin was so beautiful. It certainly didn't disappoint! Available in the following sizes (Panorama B): 30x12, 40x16, 50x20, 60x24, 75x30, 75x30 Triptych (3 x 25x30), 90x36, 90x36 Triptych (3 x 30x36), 105x42, 105x42 Triptych (3 x 35x42), 120x48, 120x48 Triptych (3 x 40x48).
Doesn't Get More Texas than This
Sure, there are plenty of bluebonnets in Texas. And there are plenty of longhorns. But finding them both, together? That's a challenge. Fortunately, sometimes a little luck goes a long way, as it did for me when I came upon this longhorn resting in a field of these iconic flowers. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 12x8, 18x12, 24x16, 30x20, 36x24, 45x30.
I often find myself in Texas in the spring, and during a good year for bluebonnets – the State Flower – Texas Hill country briefly becomes a place of spectacular beauty, with fields of blue, red, yellow, and green stretching as far as the eye can see. 2019 was a good year, and with a bit of patience, I found quite a few good spots to view and photograph fields of these iconic flowers. I don't typically do too much research before visiting a location – I often prefer to figure it out as I go. But I'd seen photos of the bridge shown in this photo, and tried to discover the exact location. I wasn't able to find out where, exactly it was, but I was able to figure out the general area, and stumbled across it, more or less by accident, one evening when I was out shooting. The old bridge really adds something to this photo. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 20x30, 24x36, 30x45, 40x60, 48x72, 54x80, 60x90.

When I found some old railroad tracks that didn't appear to be in use any longer, I went for a bit of a hike, thinking the tracks might make some great leading lines, if only I could find something else to add to the photo. A bit of walking led to some of the densest bluebonnet growth I've yet found. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 20x30, 24x36, 30x45, 40x60.

Bluebonnet and Indian Paintbrush Field
2017 wasn't a spectacular year for bluebonnets in Texas, but there were fields scattered throughout the state that had prolific bluebonnets, as well as Indian paintbrushes. This was taken at one such field, outside Brenham, Texas. Available in the following sizes (Panorama A): 20x10, 24x12, 32x16, 40x20, 48x24, 60x30, 60x30 Triptych (3 x 20x30).
Entire fields in Texas erupt into blue, purple and red masterpieces in late March and early April, as the bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush come into bloom. Here's one of the more dense fields of these flowers I saw while traveling through, in 2017. Available in the following sizes (Panorama B): 30x12, 40x16, 50x20, 60x24, 75x30, 75x30 Triptych (3 x 25x30), 90x36, 90x36 Triptych (3 x 30x36), 105x42, 105x42 Triptych (3 x 35x42), 120x48, 120x48 Triptych (3 x 40x48), 135x54 Triptych (3 x 45x54), 150x60 Triptych (3 x 50x60).
