Minnesota
Temperance River State Park, on the North Shore of Lake Superior, is a small but beautiful park along Lake Superior's north shore. Perhaps the highlight of the park is Temperance River Falls. I photographed these falls, but was surprised to see that my preferred photos were taken a couple hundred feet downstream, where the river enters Lake Superior. This photo, to me, epitomizes the subtle beauty of Lake Superior's North Shore. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 12x8, 18x12, 24x16, 30x20, 36x24, 45x30, 60x40, 72x48.
Horseshoe Bay, which lies about 20 miles southwest of the Canadian border on Minnesota 61, looks much like any number of small bays along the north shore of Lake Superior. The waves were small when I visited in the summer of 2021, but the water was not nearly still enough for me to get a mirror-like reflection. Lacking this option, I put a neutral density filter (basically sunglasses for a lens) on my camera, which allowed me to take a “long exposure” of the scene, which gives the water the somewhat “ghostly” look that can be seen in this photo. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 12x8, 18x12, 24x16, 30x20, 36x24, 45x30, 60x40, 72x48, 80x54, 90x60.
A mere 3.5 miles from the Canadian Border along Minnesota 61, which runs along Lake Superior's beautiful North Shore, lies Wayswaugoing Bay Overlook, a small pull off that one could easily drive by without giving it a second thought. But when I visited, I was trying to take things slow, and enjoy all the sights I could. Fortunately, I found myself at this viewpoint shortly before sunset, on a day with some of the best clouds I could have hoped for, the stop proved to be a good one. It's a beautiful area, in general, and one of the most accessible places I know of that leaves one feeling a sense of solitude that is increasingly difficult to find in the modern world. Available in the following sizes (Panorama C): 30x10, 36x12, 48x16, 60x20, 72x24, 90x30, 90x30 Triptych (3 x 30x30), 108x36, 108x36 Triptych (3 x 36x36), 120x40, 120x40 Triptych Triptych (3 x 40x40), 144x48 Triptych (3 x 48x48), 162x54 Triptych (3 x 54x54), 180x60 Triptych (3 x 60x60).

High Falls of the Pigeon River, which lies half within the United States and half within Canada, is, at 120 feet tall, the highest waterfall in Minnesota. The hike to reach the viewpoint of the falls is a single mile, round-trip, and well worth one's time. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 20x30, 24x36, 30x45, 40x60, 48x72.
I shot the Minneapolis skyline in the summer of 2018 – the first year I really began photographing American city skylines. But I somehow skipped getting Saint Paul. I don't know why, but I thought of them as a single city. The same thing happened to me when I shot Dallas (skipping Fort Worth, which, as of the end of 2021, I still haven't photographed). But I met someone from Saint Paul at an art show elsewhere, and when I mentioned that I had Minneapolis, he was understandably indifferent. This made it obvious to me that I needed to fix this omission, so the next time I was going through the Midwest, I made sure to go out of my way just long enough to get Saint Paul. The Mississippi River, which runs right through Saint Paul, really makes Saint Paul quite photogenic. Available in the following sizes (Panorama A): 20x10, 24x12, 32x16, 40x20, 48x24, 60x30, 60x30 Triptych (3 x 20x30).

24th Street Bridge, Minneapolis, 2018
In the summer of 2018, I participated in an art show in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and figured since I was in the city, I should get some photos of the beautiful skyline. The view from the 24th Street Bridge, above Interstate 35 is thought of as one of the best views of the city, and this proved to be true when I was here. It might be interesting to return somewhere down the line, and take a photo from the same location, to see how it looks when the highway construction shown in the bottom of the photo is complete. Available in the following sizes (Panorama A): 20x10, 24x12, 32x16, 40x20, 48x24, 60x30, 60x30 Triptych (3 x 20x30).
Minneapolis and Stone Arch Bridge 2018
In the summer of 2018, I participated in an art show in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and figured since I was in the city, I should get some photos of the beautiful skyline. I'd read that the view from the Stone Arch Bridge was spectacular, and although it was a bit of a struggle to get to this location, the view made it worthwhile. Available in the following sizes (Panorama C): 30x10, 36x12, 48x16, 60x20, 72x24, 90x30, 90x30 Triptych (3 x 30x30), 108x36, 108x36 Triptych (3 x 36x36), 120x40, 120x40 Triptych Triptych (3 x 40x40), 144x48 Triptych (3 x 48x48), 162x54 Triptych (3 x 54x54), 180x60 Triptych (3 x 60x60).
Shovel Point, in Tettegouche State Park, along Minnesota's beautiful north shore of Lake Superior, is a lovely view fairly easily accessed by a short hike. The view from Shovel Point stretches for miles in all directions, and allows one to truly enjoy the scale of this amazing lake. Available in the following sizes (Panorama A): 10x20, 12x24, 16x32, 20x40, 24x48, 30x60, 30x60 Triptych (3 x 30x20), 36x72, 36x72 Triptych (3 x 36x24), 40x80, 40x80 Triptych (3 x 40x27), 48x96, 48x96 Triptych (3 x 48x32), 54x108, 54x108 Triptych (3 x 54x36), 60x120, 60x120 Triptych (3 x 60x40).
Artists' Point, in Grand Marais, Minnesota, lies on Lake Superior's beautiful North Shore, a mere 40 miles from the Canadian border. Artists' Point, itself, is a small nature preserve that provides artistic inspiration for artists from the area. Available in the following sizes (Panorama B): 30x12, 40x16, 50x20, 60x24, 75x30, 75x30 Triptych (3 x 25x30), 90x36, 90x36 Triptych (3 x 30x36), 105x42, 105x42 Triptych (3 x 35x42), 120x48, 120x48 Triptych (3 x 40x48), 135x54 Triptych (3 x 45x54), 150x60 Triptych (3 x 50x60).
Stained Glass at Saint Paul's Cathedral
I don't do too much architectural and / or interior photography, but this is something I'd like to do more of, when opportunities present themselves, such as they did while I was attending a show in the Minneapolis / St. Paul region in the summer of 2017. While here, a friend from overseas who at the time lived a few blocks from St. Paul's Cathedral recommended I pay this colossal church a visit, and I did just that. Although it may not have the age of similarly constructed cathedrals in Europe, the feel is remarkably similar. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 12x8, 18x12, 24x16, 30x20, 36x24, 45x30, 60x40, 72x48.

I spent several months in the summer of 2017 driving around the American Midwest, as I attended art shows in the region. The sights I encountered in this part of the country were a far cry from the monumental landscapes I typically photograph in places like the American West, but there's no arguing that there was plenty of beauty to be found. I found this (abandoned?) barn and beautifully-painted silo on a country road, somewhere in Minnesota. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 20x30.
