The drive to Mount Sneffels along Dallas Creek Road, somewhere between Ridgway and Telluride, is beautiful. Portions of the drive are in the forest, but there comes a point where a valley opens up in front of you, and allows for the spectacular view, seen here, of Mount Sneffels, and the borad valley in front of it. I took this photo at sunrise, in the middle of September, 2018, when the aspen were beginning to change colors. There's a lot to see along Independence Pass, outside of Aspen, Colorado. I drove across Independence Pass during the summer of 2018, en route to an art fair in Aspen, and made sure to give myself a bit of extra time for exploration and photography. I saw a sign for “The Grotto” during my drive, and decided to check it out. Having captured this photo, I'm certainly glad I took the time to explore!
