Iceland
I visited Iceland for approximately three weeks, from late September through early October, 2017. It had been in my top three list for travel and photography destinations for a decade or more. Most visitors to this tiny, island country spend a week or so, and visit the south coast and some of the stuff around the capitol city of Reykjavik. The extra time I spent allowed me to visit a great deal more of the island, including the infrequently-visited Westfjords. Unfortunately, constant clouds and rain made many photographic opportunities fizzle due to poor lighting. In fact, the Ring Road (the only road that circumnavigates the entire country) was closed in one portion due to excessive rain, and flooding. This meant that when I made it to this point, I had to backtrack 1000 kilometers (roughly 600 miles) in order to continue my circumnavigation of the island. Even with the terrible weather, Iceland proved to be one of the most astonishingly beautiful places I've ever seen, and three weeks after returning home, I'm already yearning to go back.
