Kenya
My next visit was in August, 2019. I returned to Africa primarily to see the highly-endangered mountain gorillas in Uganda, and figured since I was "in the neighborhood," I may as well return to Kenya's spectacular Masai Mara National Reserve. I got some great shots!
On my second trip to Kenya, I hoped to photograph some cheetahs, since I didn't get any good cheetah shots on my first photographic safari to Africa. I had four days in Masai Mara National Reserve, and had been hearing about two cheetah brothers that were photographically friendly (i.e. didn't scare away easily), but by the afternoon of my fourth day, I still hadn't seen them, and was giving up hope of getting any cheetah photos. Then, as we were getting ready to leave the park for good, we heard over the radio that the brothers were close by, and we immediately drove off in their direction. Although I saw them together, they never really struck any great poses while in the same frame, so I guess you'll just have to take my word that there were actually two of these big cats together when I took this shot. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 12x8, 18x12, 24x16, 30x20, 36x24, 45x30, 60x40.

Leopards are quite elusive, and are one of the more difficult animals to photograph in the wild. They hunt at night, and usually sleep during the day. They can often be found sleeping in trees. This guy, on the other hand, decided to take a nap on a river bank. Available in the following sizes (Panorama A): 20x10, 24x12, 32x16, 40x20, 48x24.

Lions are a lot of fun to photograph, and big males are prized. Life on the savanna is hard, and as animals age, they often acquire numerous scars. I am taking a guess that because of how free of scars this guy is, he's probably quite young. Sitting here, he really does look like the “King of the Jungle.” Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 12x8, 18x12, 24x16, 30x20, 36x24, 45x30, 60x40, 72x48.
I've been to a few places where guides tell you something to the effect of “This is the only place in the world where lions climb trees!” I've seen it in a couple places, so don't be fooled by anyone telling you this is an activity that occurs in a single area. Nonetheless, it is fun to see these big cats relaxing in treetops. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 20x30, 24x36, 30x45, 40x60.
Lions are probably the most popular subject for African wildlife photography. They're majestic. When they're young, they tend to be free of scars, but after a long and violent life, older males tend to be a bit more on the beat-up side. I cannot imagine what this old warrior must have gone through in his life, but the multitude of scars on his face certainly tells a story. After a scary river crossing, the zebras and wildebeest that survive probably want to get as far as possible from crocodile-infested waters, but they still need to drink. I found this group of zebras drinking from a small pond a few kilometers from where I'd watched them cross a river a couple hours before. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle A): 10x8, 14x11, 20x16, 24x20, 30x24, 40x30, 50x40.

This may be my favorite lioness photo I've taken. I'm sure glad I took this photo from the safety of a vehicle, otherwise I'd say there's a reasonable chance that this sight would have been my last. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 12x8, 18x12, 24x16, 30x20, 36x24, 45x30, 60x40, 72x48.
“The Great Migration” refers to the months-long journey of millions of zebras and wildebeest (and other antelope species) between Kenya and Tanzania. It is truly an amazing event to see. Perhaps the most picturesque example of this migration is when a herd of thousands of animals must cross a crocodile-infested river. The herd will gather at the river bank for hours, until one brave animal strikes out for the other side. I took this photo shortly after a herd of zebras and wildebeest crossed the river I was observing. At least a few animals were taken down by crocodiles, but this little guy was one of the lucky ones who made it across. Available in the following sizes (Square): 10x10, 12x12, 16x16, 20x20, 24x24, 30x30, 36x36, 42x42.

They don't usually all make it, as there are crocodiles in these rivers, and they need food, too.
