A spontaneous trip to Glacier National Park in the summer of 2020 took me through some parts of Wyoming and Montana that I'd never seen before, including the “Hell's Half Acre” roadside stop. Kind of in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming, it is a great place to get out and stretch one's legs, and perhaps have a snack or some lunch. This place looks strikingly like the more famous Badlands National Park in South Dakota. Check out my images from there and see if you can tell them apart! Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 12x8, 18x12, 24x16, 30x20, 36x24, 45x30, 60x40, 72x48.

I took this photo on one of the least driven roads I've ever had the pleasure of exploring. Capitol Reef National Park, in south central Utah, is already in the middle of nowhere, but most visitors to Capitol Reef only see the portion of it that is accessible by paved road. I stumbled upon a dirt road that allows one access to the extremely isolated southern portion of the park during a Nevada / Utah trip in 2020, and I'm happy to report it is spectacular. But don't tell anyone, I don't want the secret getting out! Available in the following sizes (Panorama C): 30x10, 36x12, 48x16, 60x20, 72x24, 90x30, 90x30 Triptych (3 x 30x30), 108x36, 108x36 Triptych (3 x 36x36), 120x40, 120x40 Triptych Triptych (3 x 40x40), 144x48 Triptych (3 x 48x48), 162x54 Triptych (3 x 54x54), 180x60 Triptych (3 x 60x60).

I've taken a lot of scenic drives, but to this day, Utah 12 remains in my top two (the other is Canada's Icefields Parkway). Beginning near Bryce Canyon National Park and continuing 123 miles before finishing near Capitol Reef National Park, it goes through some of the least densely populated parts of the country, and offers about a billion side trips, parks (National, State etc.) and views. I've driven Utah 12 probably five or so times, and it seems that each time, I find somewhere new to explore. Such was the case when I drove it in mid 2020, and stumbled upon a side road called the Burr Trail, which connects Boulder, Utah, to the southern portion of Capitol Reef National Park. It was on this road that I got this photo. I don't want to spoil it any more. It's a beautiful drive. Available in the following sizes (Panorama B): 30x12, 40x16, 50x20, 60x24, 75x30, 75x30 Triptych (3 x 25x30), 90x36, 90x36 Triptych (3 x 30x36), 105x42, 105x42 Triptych (3 x 35x42), 120x48, 120x48 Triptych (3 x 40x48), 135x54 Triptych (3 x 45x54), 150x60 Triptych (3 x 50x60).

Somewhere near the halfway point, there's a pull off that I stop at every time I go on this drive, and it is from this pull off that I took this photo. It does a great job of giving one a general idea of what there is to see along this drive. Do yourself a favor – if you can find the time to drive Utah State Highway 12, do it! I've visited Zion many times, and it is always beautiful. I took this photo while visiting the park during the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-2020, while major portions of the park remained closed. This also meant less visitors than usual, but not by as big a margin as I would have imagined. A bridge goes over the Virgin River, and it is a famous spot for photography, but I believe they stopped allowing people to shoot from the bridge recently – I only found out after I'd taken this photo, and a Park Ranger drove by and informed me (and some other photographers) that pedestrians aren't allowed on the bridge. Bummer! Oh well, at least I got the shot. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 12x8, 18x12, 24x16, 30x20, 36x24, 45x30, 60x40, 72x48, 80x54.
When the 2020 COVID-19 stay-at-home orders came to an end, I hopped in my van and made my way to Nevada. The emptiness of Nevada is something to behold. It's a strange feeling to drive along some of the loneliest highways on the planet, but it was while I was doing just this that I came across a herd of bighorn sheep. A few of them were nice enough to pose for me. Available in the following sizes (Rectangle A): 8x10, 11x14, 16x20, 20x24, 24x30, 30x40, 40x50.

When the 2020 COVID-19 stay-at-home orders came to an end, I hopped in my van and made my way to Nevada. After visiting Great Basin National Park, my intention was to go to Lake Tahoe, but the sheer number of RVs on the road made it obvious that I wasn't the only one with this idea, and not wanting to be around so many people, I adjusted my plans and went instead to northwest Nevada's Black Rock Desert. It's a strange place – Burning Man is held here every year, and the overwhelming emptiness of the place can be overpowering. If you ever want to get away from everyone, you may want to put Black Rock Desert on your short list.
