One of the benefits of taking pictures of wildlife at areas frequented by humans – such as Everglades National Park, in south Florida – is that the animals tend to be less wary of humans than in less frequently-visited locations. This cormorant, for example, was perched on top of a shelter that was built into a boardwalk through a wetland. He didn't take off when I passed only a couple feet below him, in fact, he seemed to strike a perfect pose for me to photograph.
