I got up very early in the morning in the middle of June, 2012, in the hopes that I would be able to see Devils Tower hit by the first rays of light of the day. I drove to what I thought would be an ideal spot, but the sky was completely overcast, and no “golden hour” light illuminated this 1,267 foot tall National Monument. All was not lost, though, as I did manage to spot this longhorn grazing in front of Devils Tower.
