Inferno

I visited Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in late September, 2009. There were several small forest fires happening while I was there, and the smoke made most views of the mountains quite dull. I was on the verge of calling the trip a complete disaster – photographically, at least – when I made it to the top of Signal Mountain, in Grand Teton National Park, which provides an overview of the valley below the Tetons. It was there, at sunset, that I captured this shot. The smoke from the forest fires had turned orange from the setting sun, and by zooming in on a particular area, I was able to capture this shot that looks like some layer of hell.

Available in the following sizes (Rectangle B): 8x12, 12x18, 16x24, 20x30, 24x36.
