Capitol Reef gets about half the visitors each year as Arches or Bryce Canyon, due largely to its remote location. For this reason, it is one of my favorite National Parks in Utah – and that is really saying something. I got this shot in the middle of a trip through all of Utah's National Parks, and the weather looked equally intimidating for most of my trip. I got lucky, though, and it only really unleashed any rain on me for a couple hours just after I took this photo. The enormous cliffs that make up the background of this photo are part of a much larger up-thrust called the Waterpocket Fold.
